Congratulations to Carol Haines on her award for her work with our photogroup members!
Buckinghamshire Adult Learning course co-ordinator Carol Haines has been given an award for helping a brain injury group.
Carol, 62, from Wing, started a digital photography group for adults with brain injury at the Camborne Centre in Aylesbury five years ago.
She has now retired but was honoured last month with the award. It was presented to her by Malcolm Underhill from IBB Solicitors, the award sponsors, while Dr. Andy Tyerman, Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Community Head Injury Service, thanked her for her work. He said: “This award is well deserved recognition for Carol’s commitment and passion for helping adults with brain injury to achieve to their full potential.”
Photogroup sessions are welcome to everyone and run on a Wednesday from 10AM at Holy Trinity Church, Walton Street, Aylesbury.

New Enrycher videos launched
A new series of videos capturing life changing stories of disabled people accessing Enrych’s services have been launched by Enrych East Midlands.
Eight short films featuring Enrych member/volunteer partnerships and Enrych PA/client relationships were shown at the branch’s 30th Anniversary celebration events on 23rd September in Coalville, Leicestershire.
One film tells the story of Emily (client) who as a result of having the support of her Personal Assistant, Katrina, had increased in confidence to the extent that she secured her first job at Sainsbury’s… which (as you’ll see in the video) called for a celebratory flapjack.
Another video features Colin (member) and Matt (Volunteer) who were brought together by their love of football and Colin’s dream of writing his own book on railway history. Matt wears many Enrych hats and visits Colin once or twice a month.
There is also a look at the Enrych Community Allotment Group which is on the look out for more volunteers to help even more disabled people benefit from the therapeutic benefits of community gardening.
Enrychers in Pictures – Jill in Berkshire
We asked our teams around the country to nominate people in Enrych who had made a real difference to other people’s lives. ‘Enrycher’ Awards were presented at our recent national Enrych Day.
This month we feature Jill, who is a staff member at Enrych Berkshire.
She was nominated by the Enrych Berkshire trustees who said “Jill joined the Enrych Berkshire branch 6 years ago. She has been actively involved in the evolution of the procedures and processes used within our PARCS project in partnership with Reading Borough Council. She has always dealt with people in a calm and professional manner. She has been part of the team and contributed an enormous amount to the success of the Berkshire Branch.”
Pictured here is Jill receiving her award from Enrych Chair of Trustees, Dr Stephen Large.
Day out at Ulverscroft Manor
20 members, volunteers, carers and friends of Enrych East Midlands enjoyed a lovely day at Ulverscroft Manor on the 31st August. The day consisted of tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival, a 2 course hot lunch and tea and cake in the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed a peaceful day looking out at the wonderful countryside and those who chose to, took a buggy ride through the grounds. The new wheelchair accessible buggy had its first official trip out too!
It was a wonderful day for chatting to friends and making new ones!

Our Chair of Trustees, Dr Stephen Large writes
I am delighted to share with you our Enrych Annual Report, celebrating 30 years of supporting disabled people. I think it is a remarkable document. To me it is extraordinary how much we have achieved. It is good to be able to talk about so many success stories, and areas of growth, despite the difficult economic climate. I would personally like to thank everyone who has been a part of this success, and especially to those who have shared their stories here.
Enrychers in Pictures – volunteer Catherine
We asked our teams around the country to nominate people in Enrych who had made a real difference to other people’s live. ‘Enrycher’ Awards were presented at our recent national Enrych Day
This month we feature Catherine, who volunteers in Warwickshire.
She was nominated by Co-coordinator Liz who said “Catherine joined in May 2015 as an Enrych volunteer. Since then she has regularly joined our member for coffee, walks, and trips out. They have a number of shared interests, and this has enabled them to develop a lovely friendship. Catherine has since shown an interest in supporting more members and we are currently looking into matching her with another member…or 2!”
