Emily, aged 20, a client of Enrych, has always dreamed of working for the police service, particularly in the canteen, where she hopes to feed the force that keep us all safe. Knowing this, Mick, our Operational Lead—and a former police officer, set out to make this aspiration a reality. Reaching out to Helen at Leicestershire Police, he arranged a visit for Emily and her mum, Pamela, to visit Police Headquarters in Enderby.
On October 24th, Emily and Pamela arrived at the Leicestershire Police HQ, where they were warmly welcomed. Phil, who has worked in the police canteen for over 20 years, led them through the kitchen, showing them all the different areas and meals they make from scratch. Following the tour, Emily and Pamela joined Phil’s son Alfie who is head baker at the canteen, in decorating spooky Halloween-themed chocolate rice crispy cakes.
Phil said:
“It was our pleasure to welcome Emily and her Mum to our busy canteen. I have an excellent team here who work tirelessly to feed the officers and staff at Police HQ and we were delighted to show Emily how it all works and give her the chance to decorate some Halloween chocolate rice crispy cakes, which I have no doubt will be snatched up by our customers.”
After their hard work, Emily received a bag of police-themed gifts, including her very own police plaque to display in her bedroom—a keepsake she’s super excited to show her friends at college.
Pamela, Emily’s mum said:
“This has been a great opportunity for Emily and she continues to hope that once she has finished college that she might be able to work at the police canteen. Everyone was very welcoming today and we have really enjoyed our visit.”
Emily's dream of being part of the police service remains close to her heart, and at Enrych, we have no doubt she’ll reach her goal.
